Muscle groups on the body that you need to know for effective training

There are many different muscle groups in our body. Accordingly, the exercises are also designed to correspond to each muscle group to help the practitioner achieve the desired training results. Please note the muscle groups on the body below to be able to propose the most optimal training plans for yourself!

Diagram of muscle groups on the body

Below is a detailed diagram of muscle groups on the body that you should note:

  • Neck muscle group – Neck

The neck muscles are very easy to identify, located right at the neck of each person. This muscle group has a fairly small area and is often forgotten during training. The neck muscles are made up of small muscle groups such as the Sternohyoid, Omohyoid, Thyrohyoid, and Sternothyroid.

  • The shoulder muscle group – shoulders or Deltoid

The shoulder muscle is one of the particularly important muscle groups on the body, located on both sides of our shoulders, and is very focused on during training. It is for these reasons that when participating in training, fitness experts/trainers will pay special attention to the intensity of training with the shoulder muscles more than other muscle groups, and also remind participants about the injuries that can occur when strong impacts occur on the shoulder muscles.

The shoulder muscles include 3 small muscle groups: the outer shoulder muscles, or the middle shoulder muscles (Lateral fibers) – the largest and strongest muscle in the shoulder muscle group, the posterior shoulder muscles (Posterior fibers), and the anterior shoulder muscles (Anterior fibers).

  • The shoulder muscle group – Biceps

The forearm muscles are also known as the biceps, or more commonly known as the biceps, with the English name Biceps. This is one of the particularly important muscle groups on the body, greatly determining the “beauty” of the body. Normally, men will pay more attention to this muscle group than women, because they contribute to creating firmness and strength for men’s arms and shoulders.

The forearm muscle group is also made up of 3 small muscle groups, including: the external forearm muscle (Brachialis), which is quite long and small; the long head and short head muscles.

  • Triceps muscle group

The triceps muscle group, also known by other names such as triceps, triceps, … includes the following corresponding muscle groups: The largest long head, followed by the Medial head, which is close to the body, and a little further away is the Lateral head.

  • Forearms group – Forearms

The forearms group (Forearms) is a particularly important muscle group of the human body, having a great impact on physical activities and daily life. The forearms stretch from the forearm to the palm of the hand, controlling the activities of our limbs.

The forearm muscle group includes muscle groups such as: Brachioradialis (located on the inside of the hand group, in the palm of the hand); Flexor Carpi Ulnaris (located on the little finger), and finally Extensor Carpi Ulnaris (located on the opposite side of the two muscle groups above).

  • Back muscle group – Backs

The back muscles are the largest muscle group on the body and also contain the smallest muscles, arranged in a complex and intricate manner. Back muscles include 4 main muscle groups as follows:

– Shoulder trap (Trap or Trapezius): This muscle is quite large, stretching from the neck to the middle of the back
Latissimus Dorsi (Latissimus Dorsi): The latissimus consists of 2 large muscles located under the armpit, bordering the middle latissimus above, and above is the trapezius
– Middle back muscles (Middle Back): The middle back muscles include 4 main muscles combined together, forming a relatively large muscle group, located above the latissimus and right next to the trapezius. The middle back muscles include smaller muscles such as: Infraspinatus, Teres Minor, Teres Major, and Rhomboid major.
– Lower back muscles: The lower back muscles are a special part of the back muscles, greatly affecting the strength of the back as well as the whole body. This is also the muscle connecting the upper body and the lower body, including small groups such as: Erector Spinae and, Thoracolumbar Fascia.

  • Chest muscle group – Chest

Among the muscle groups on the body, the chest muscles are the ones that any student should pay attention to when practicing. This muscle group is located right on our chest and has two groups located symmetrically on both sides. Each side of the chest muscle group includes the upper chest muscles and the lower chest muscles. All of them participate in the exercises or movements you perform every day in daily life or in sports.

  • Abdominal muscle group – Abs

For those who exercise, the abdominal muscle group is no longer a strange name. This is the main muscle group in bodybuilding that is given great attention. Some people even spend most of their time doing exercises specifically for the abdominal muscles.

Abdominal muscles include two main groups as follows:

– Abdominal muscles (six pack): Also known as 6-pack muscles because when trained properly, most will give results of 6 firm packs – the ideal body of many guys. Other cases will give up to 8 packs, including 6 small packs above (Rectus Abdominis) and 2 long packs below (Tendinous Inscriptions).
– Intercostal muscles: Are two longitudinal muscle groups located right on both sides of the ribs, forming an arch that hugs the inner abdominal muscles. Intercostal muscles include Serratus Anterior (a smaller group located on the outside) and External Oblique (a larger group located on the inside near the abdominal muscles).

  • Thigh muscle group – Thigh (Glutes, Quads, and Hamstrings)

The thighs are also a particularly important muscle group on each of our bodies and are often misunderstood as the muscle group located along the thighs. This is completely wrong because in reality, the thigh muscles include the glutes, the inner thigh muscles (Hamstrings), and the front thighs (Quads). The thigh muscles are also the largest and strongest muscle group of the body, which is especially important in training. Details about the thigh muscles are as follows:

– Glutes: These are two muscle groups located behind the body (right at the buttocks), are round and include two main muscles: Gluteus medius, located above, and the larger Gluteus maximus, located below
– Front thigh muscles (Quads – Quadriceps): Also known as the quadriceps muscle, including 3 main muscles: Vastus medialis (located on the left knee); Rectus femoris (middle thigh muscle group), and Vastus Lateralis (outer muscle group)
– Hamstring: The back thigh muscle also includes 3 muscle groups like the front thigh muscle: Semimembranosus (a small muscle and located right near the elbow), Semitendinosus (located on the inside), and Biceps femoris (a larger muscle, located slightly to the outside).
In addition, the inner and outer thigh muscles are also made up of a few other small muscles. However, because of their small mass, they are rarely mentioned.

  • Leg muscle group – Calves Hay Calf

Among the muscle groups on the body, the calf muscle is probably the most familiar muscle to us. The calf muscle (Calves Hay Calf) includes Gastrocnemius (located on the inside), Peroneus (located on the outside), and Tibialis anterior (located in front, inside the muscle group legs).

Here is a list of muscle groups in your body that you need to know to exercise more effectively.
